PAY FOR PLAY is a joint KAMP and PRISK slogan targeting business owners (“the users”), and premised on the principle that a user must pay as compensation to the Producer and Performer through the respective Collective Management Organization for the commercial use of copyrighted sound recordings and or audio visual works.

Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP) is a Company limited by guarantee incorporated under the Companies Act Cap 486 Laws of Kenya to carry out the functions of a Collective Management Organization (CMO) in the Republic of Kenya. KAMP is registered and licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) as a CMO representative of Producers of Sound recordings and granted a license to carry on with its mandate in line with section 46 of the Copyright Act 2001.

Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) is a Company limited by guarantee incorporated under the Companies Act Cap 486 Laws of Kenya to carry out the functions of a Collective Management Organization (CMO) in the Republic of Kenya. In line with section 46 of the Copyright Act 2001, PRISK is registered and licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) as a CMO representative of Performers (Musicians, Actors) of Sound recordings and or audio-visual works.

KAMP and PRISK being CMOs administering related rights to Copyright otherwise referred to as neighbouring rights to copyright, have in the interest of the user commendably partnered to issue a joint Communication to the Public license since the year 2009. It should be noted that the two are absolutely distinct in their very composition as well as in functionality and or mandate.
